You’re Not Weak—You’re Just Carrying Too Much
Word of God for Today: Matthew 11:28
Verse of the Day
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
— Matthew 11:28 (KJV)
Reading of the Day: Matthew 11:28–30 (KJV)
28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Short Explanation
Many people mistake exhaustion for weakness, but often it’s a sign we are carrying burdens alone. Life’s pressures—finances, expectations, broken relationships—can quietly weigh down the soul. Jesus doesn’t shame us for being tired; He invites us closer. This passage reminds us that rest is not found in escape, but in surrender. When we take Christ’s yoke, we exchange heavy anxiety for gentle guidance. Rest becomes possible when we stop striving to prove ourselves. Jesus offers relief that reaches deeper than physical tiredness. His rest restores peace, clarity, and hope. The invitation is simple, but the decision to let go takes faith.
Morning Prayer
Lord Jesus,
I come to You tired and overwhelmed.
Teach me to lay down every burden I’ve been carrying alone.
Help me learn Your gentle ways.
Restore rest to my soul and peace to my heart.
I trust You to carry what I cannot.
Amen.
